Comparison of Opioid Prescribing by Dentists in the United States and England

This 2019 journal article compares dentist opioid prescribing rates in the United States and England. While dental service rates are generally similar between the countries, US dentists prescribed opioids 37 times more than English dentists, they prescribed a greater range of opioid medications, and also prescribed long acting opioids which English dentists did not.
