Young People in Recovery

Young People in Recovery (YPR) was founded in 2010 by a group of young people, ages 18 to 30, who wanted to help others achieve and sustain recovery from addiction. YPR helps local communities create YPR chapters to provide education and support around recovery. They also develop life skills curriculum for individuals seeking or sustaining recovery and advocate for additional resources and programs for individuals in recovery, particularly youth and young adults.

Integrated Care for High Risk Pregnancies: A Pilot Project to Improve Medical Assistance Birth Outcomes

In 2015, the Minnesota Legislature directed the Department of Human Services to implement a pilot program to improve birth outcomes – the Integrated Care for High Risk Pregnancies (ICHRP) Initiative. The pilot program was designed to reach two demographic groups: African Americans at risk for low birth weight births in the Twin Cities metropolitan area and American Indians at risk for opiate use during pregnancy.

State officials participating in the Medicaid Evidence-based Decisions Project requested this rapid evidence review on the role of inpatient or residential detoxification for the treatment of opioid use disorder (OUD). As this 2-page document states, research is clear and addiction experts agree that detoxification alone is not a stand-alone treatment for OUD, but is merely the first step in a providing an individualized treatment plan which may include medication assisted treatment.

Provider Implementation Guide Using a Medication First Model

The Medication First treatment model was developed by DMH staff with assistance from staff from the Missouri Institute of Mental Health at the University of Missouri, St. Louis, and is based on the successful Housing First model used to address homelessness.
