The Tennessee Department of Health developed an integrated data collection and analysis program on opioid related issues and published this comprehensive report in 2019. The report includes epidemiologic data on risk measures and trends to understand the opioid crisis in Tennessee and summarizes ongoing data efforts and data collaborations in the state.

While dental service rates are generally similar between the countries, US dentists prescribed opioids 37 times more than English dentists, they prescribed a greater range of opioid medications, and also prescribed long acting opioids which English dentists did not.
