This report draws on knowledge gained from the Mayors’ Institute on Opioids which focused on assisting 6 communities in addressing their opioid related issues. This report describes the findings from this project, including emphasizing the need for cross-sector partnerships and integration, a focus on equity and reducing stigma, and innovative ways to use data to focus cross-agency partnerships. New Rules for Opioid Prescribing and Monitoring

The Washington Medical Commission prepared these slides for presentations to allopathic physicians about the opioid prescribing guidelines adopted in 2019. The slides briefly review what is covered by the guidelines and what is excluded, discuss continuing medical education requirements, describe requirements to check the prescription monitoring program, and offer advice on incorporating the changes in practice.
